The Ladies in the Background
When casually looking at the photograph from my recent visit to the cemetery, it is easy to notice certain things that have prominence. Two of which would be the grave markers with the names inscribed in large letters: Gray and Neal. As I wrote in the previous two Daily Reports, it had been some time since I had stopped by the cemetery where my daughter and my mom are buried. That day, I reflected on how this little spot had changed since we gathered there for my daughter’s service in 2001 and could not help but notice the changes that had occurred throughout the more than 20 years.
When looking carefully under the large letters of these prominent last names, one can see the names of two ladies etched there who have finished their races, having lived faithful lives that fulfilled their roles not only as wives and mothers but also as pastors’ wives…
I Don’t Care
In an interview with CNBC, Elon Musk was asked about losing advertisers for his company over statements he had made. Companies had been threatening to pull their advertising dollars if he continued to say things with which they disagreed. The interviewer was stunned when Musk’s response to this was, “I don’t care.”
Slanderous attacks have been launched against me in recent days since the inception of gregnealdaily.com. The reason is, besides petty jealousy, people are making an effort to silence my voice. They do not like the things for which I stand and the truths that I propagate. They do not like soulwinning. They do not like biblical restoration. They do not like the independence and autonomy of the local church. In essence, these individuals also do not like free speech. Like Elon Musk, I say: I. Don’t. Care.
Friends or Family?
Yesterday, I wrote about a little spot at the cemetery I recently visited. Those few minutes in that place gave me a great perspective of the last 20 years and caused me to consider the next 20. One noticeable thing I mentioned about the photograph was the proximity of two grave markers—one marked “Neal” and the other “Gray.”
This Little Spot
Today’s Daily Report will be the first in a series of posts. I did not intend for this to be anything more than a single report, but as I was writing what I thought would be a simple thought and perspective, it evolved into something with many more layers and much more depth. Over the next few days, I will present various perspectives from one simple photo taken on a recent visit I made, which prompted this original idea. I hope today’s report, along with those to follow, will provoke thought and personal evaluation. I also hope it will help us gain appreciation for these various perspectives…
Willing to Stand
This week, I will be spending time at The Amanda Ranch in New Mexico to rest and write. This ministry has been an incredible blessing to many hurting families already, with more to be helped in the coming months. Pray that God continues to use The Amanda Ranch for those who need it most. Check out theamandaranch.com to learn more about this ministry.
Thoughts from the Other Side of the Hill
On this day 51 years ago, I was born into this world. As I celebrate another year on planet Earth, I am grateful for God’s many blessings. I am grateful first that He gave me life. I am also grateful that as a child, I heard the Gospel and put my trust in Christ.
As I reflect on my life, I also must thank God that not everything has been easy. There have been some really difficult moments. While I never would have chosen them and would not want to live them again, it has been those times that have made me who I am.
I have been blessed:
The Pendulum Principle
“Kaya Walker, the president of NYU’s College Republicans, was forced to resign after calling Barron Trump an oddity on campus. The resignation occurred days after “Vanity Fair” published an article that examined the college life of President Donald Trump’s 18-year-old son. ‘He’s sort of like an oddity on campus,’ Walker told the outlet in a story about Barron published on Wednesday, Feb. 12. ‘He goes to class, he goes home.’”
Fat Cat Mistaken for Mountain Lion Shuts Down School
Everyone is breathing a sigh of relief after an elementary school in Washington was locked down when a mountain lion was reportedly spotted. It turns out a fat cat was mistaken for a predator. Once the mistake was realized, the lockdown was lifted, and the school resumed normal activities…
The Presidents of Presidents Day
I wrote this Daily Report on Presidents Day about Presidents Day. There is no doubt American history is unique, and our constitutional republic is a major reason why. The role of the president through our nation’s history has, without argument, been consequential. It is impossible for a president not to affect his citizenry, whether positively, negatively, or a mix of both. We set aside this day to recognize and honor their contributions to our nation’s history…
My View from the Backseat
This past week I found myself in an unusual position—I was relegated to the back seat of my own vehicle. My youngest daughter, Addison, was driving, and her classmate and lifelong friend, Megan, was riding shotgun…
