It has been said of me that I will run out of time before I run out of ideas. Likewise, it has been said that I have always been able to find inspiration and creativity to pursue an idea. This is just how God made me. Thankfully, He also has put people around me who have helped me fulfill many unusual things and extend ministry beyond the usual bounds.

At the beginning of 2024, I began preaching a series from I Corinthians 13 on Bible charity titled A More Excellent Way. I had been meditating on this subject for a couple of years in preparation for a series to preach to our church. God used this series in a tremendous way. Many have listened to it online, and it is not uncommon in my travels for me to hear people comment on how it has helped them. I am often asked when this series will be made into a book. My usual response is, “We’re working on it.” Truthfully, I had planned to publish this book earlier this year, but I put it on hold. The reason for the delay is that I had–yes, you guessed it—an idea.

Instead of merely releasing the book, I began working on a collection of items and resources that reinforce the idea of A More Excellent Way for the Christian to live. These resources will include not only the physical book but also an eBook and an audiobook. In addition, a companion study guide, Sunday school lessons, worksheets, devotionals, and other materials will be available, all designed to promote Bible charity in the life of the Christian.

I am extremely excited about this project and hope it will have an impact on making charity part of the everyday life of the Christian. Watch for an announcement about the release of this book and its accompanying materials.

And one more thing…

Charity is something we can show, possess, and give. In other words, it cannot be faked. As it is said in the South, “Either you is or you ain’t.”
