Pope Francis has died. The Vatican announced that he passed at his residence on Monday, April 21. Much will be made of this in the coming days. Here are some facts to consider:

The pope perpetuated false doctrine.

The doctrine of the Catholic Church is false doctrine. The Catholic faith is contrary to the Bible. In fact, the Catholic Church puts itself above the Scriptures; it considers the pope’s opinion to be divine, even when it contradicts the Bible. Many will commemorate Pope Francis for things such as peace and humanitarian concerns, but the real lasting legacy is the damage done to the souls of those damned by the heresy he espoused.

The pope was a blasphemer.

There is but One Who grants forgiveness of sins—and it is not the pope. Jesus is the only One capable of bridging man to God. For the pope to offer “forgiveness of sins” is blasphemous because he places himself in Christ’s stead.

The pope is not infallible.

The pope is dead, proving that he was just a man. Only one who is infallible can conquer death, and it is not Pope Francis. Only one who is infallible can grant forgiveness of sins. One sinful man cannot absolve another sinful man of his sins.

The pope went to Hell.

This is a sobering fact. Perhaps there is no one more religious than the pope, yet the pope died in his sins. This is not an opinion but a fact, according to the Bible. Religion cannot save; no church can save; and holding a religious position does not pay one’s sin debt. John 14 reminds us of the truth: No one gets to the Father except through Christ.

I do not rejoice that he died, nor am I glad he is in Hell.

As a born-again Bible believer, I am saddened by his death. As a Baptist by conviction, I do not celebrate his demise. I am fully aware of the Catholic Church’s murder of millions of my Baptist forefathers. I have preached and will continue to preach against the pope. Yet, the tragic reality is that the pope died without Christ. He, just as anyone who dies in his sins, went to Hell against the will of the Father.

My heart breaks for the millions of people who have been deceived by the Catholic Church. As born-again believers, we should do everything we can to take the Truth to those who have been deceived. In the coming days, I will look for opportunities to have conversations with Catholics, not to start an argument or to condemn but to use this event as a possible opening to explain how Jesus is the only solution to our sins.

We should pray for those deceived by the Catholic cult to find Christ before it is too late for them, also.
