Will Communism Prevail in the Russia-Ukraine War?

I am not an expert on foreign affairs, diplomacy, or policy. I tend to look at things logically and try to view them through the lens of Scripture. The Russia-Ukraine war that has been going on for 3 years recently recaptured the world’s attention because of the “altercation” in the White House between President Trump, Vice President Vance, and Ukrainian President Zelensky. While everyone has an opinion and a viewpoint, here are some things I believe to be true about this war:

  • In addition to soldiers dying, the Ukrainian people are suffering.
  • Christians look at this too much from a political viewpoint and not a spiritual one.
  • Most claiming to know the ins and outs of Ukraine cannot give even a basic explanation of their own country. I find it sadly ironic that many Americans are screaming about the corruption in the Ukrainian government while, before our eyes, current revelations of what we all suspected to be true have been validated: our government is corrupt. Pot, meet kettle.

However, this report today has one purpose, and it is not to break down all the ins and outs of this conflict. Instead, it will answer the question, “Will Communism prevail in the Russia-Ukraine war?” The answer may surprise some.

Anyone who understands Communism knows it seeks to take away the freedoms of speech, thought, and expression. In a Communist state, there is no reason to be religious because the people are to worship the state. Having individual opinion is unnecessary because the people are expected to hold only the state’s opinion. Certainly, Communism is being practiced. Let me give some examples:

  • People have been arrested over social media posts that were critical of the government.
  • Arrests of those who bowed their heads in prayer on a street in front of an abortion clinic have been made.
  • State media has censored opposing viewpoints while propagating lies.
  • Elections have been suspended, stolen, and ignored.
  • Billions of dollars have been stolen from citizens to enrich leaders.

There are many more examples I could share, but these are enough to illustrate that Communism is on full display. However, none of these incidents took place in Russia. They took place in our own country and in the countries of our “allies.” Is Russia a Communist nation, and is Putin a dictator? I would say yes.

I will make a statement that many will not agree with or like, but it must be said: There may be more Communists in America than in Russia, and there may be more Communists in Europe than in Russia. Think about it.

Now let us return to the subject at hand. Will Communism win if Russia wins? I think that is the wrong question. I think Communism can win even if Russia loses because Communism is not contained in one country.

I do not know everything Trump is trying to accomplish or why he is doing everything he is doing. We should pray for him. He is not just facing a Communist dictator in Russia. He is dealing with Communists in our own country, as well as those in countries we consider to be our allies.

We should pray for the Ukrainian people. There are many Christians in Ukraine; these are our brothers and sisters in Christ. For a moment, we must look past our earthly citizenship and consider our heavenly citizenship. It is important that we pray for the advancement of the Gospel during this tragic time.

Finally, this should illustrate that the only hope for our world is not capitalism but the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Let us all do our part to reach the world. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
